Getting Started

What is Band Parrot?

Band Parrot is a community platform for musicians, bands, venues, and music fans. You can discover artists, follow bands, post updates, announce events, and connect directly with others in the music scene.

How do I create an account?

Click Register on the home page, fill in your username, email address and password, then confirm your email to activate your account.

What is My Channel?

My Channel is a feed of all the posts, reposts, and replies belonging to a particular entity. It is your view of that entity's activity in one place.

Posts & Events

How do I create a post?

Click the green Create button on your channel page and choose New Post. You can add text, images, video, and audio files to your post.

How do I create an event?

Click Create → New Event. Fill in the event name, date, description, and optionally add venues and performers. You can also attach media such as a poster image or promotional video.

What media can I attach?

Posts and events support images (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP), video (MP4, MOV — one per item), and audio files (MP3, WAV, OGG). Each file must be under 50 MB.

Can I edit or delete a post?

Yes. Open your post and use the edit or delete options. Only the original author can edit or delete their content.

What is a Repost?

Reposting shares someone else's post to your followers. It appears on their feeds with credit to the original author. You can undo a repost at any time.

Entities

What is an Entity?

An Entity is a profile for a band, solo artist, venue, or record label — separate from your personal user account. You can manage multiple entities from a single account.

What is an Entity's public profile?

The public profile page shows an entity's publicly available information — name, description, links, and genre — together with a chronological list of all their posts, reposts, and replies. Anyone can view it, even without an account.

How do I create an Entity?

Click Create and choose one of: Band / Artist, Venue, Record Label, or Other Entity. Fill in the name, description, and optional links.

How do I post as an Entity?

Use the Entity selector in the top navigation bar to switch to one of your entities. While acting as an entity, new posts and events are published under that entity's name.

Can I follow an Entity?

Yes. Visit an entity's profile page and click Follow. Their posts and events will appear in your channel feed.

Messaging

How do I send a direct message?

Click the envelope icon in the navigation bar to open your messages, then start a new conversation with any user.

How do I know when I have a new message?

An orange indicator appears beside the envelope icon in the navigation bar when you have unread messages.

Account

How do I update my profile?

Go to Account from the navigation menu to update your display name, bio, avatar, and other profile details.

How do I change my password?

In your Account settings, scroll to the Update Password section, enter your current password and your new password, then save.

How do I delete my account?

Account deletion is available at the bottom of your Profile settings page under Delete Account. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
